Magnetic Field Viewer

For use as a Micromagnet separation tool and also as a magnetic field viewer.

Included is a tool that allows you to peer into the invisible. The thin green film reveals the hidden flux: lighter where lines are parallel, darker where they are perpendicular.

WARNING: Do NOT use this MFV card to separate full-size 5mm magnets. The film contains microscopic ferromagnetic oil cells which will rupture under the pinching pressure of larger magnets, ruining the tool. Do not fold, crush, or disrespect the laws of physics.

Vs. 5mm Magnets

"What are these? Magnets for ants?"

Those experienced with 5mm magnets (Zen Magnets, Buckyballs, Neoballs) will transition to 2.5mm Micromagnets relatively painlessly. Initial reactions range from pleasant surprise to feeling constrained. Greater mobility and lower price are obvious benefits.

Some manipulation techniques, such as pinch splitting, won't be possible. Fingernails and good near vision are strongly recommended. Most of the same structures are possible, however construction will be more difficult with Micromagnets. Shapes once mildly challenging are now difficult; what was once frustrating is now 3x moreso, but still possible. Welcome to Hard Mode.

The Ghost of Zen Magnets

As of 2020, we are no longer able to sell 5mm Zen Magnets and Neoballs.

We fought the CPSC ban harder than any company in history. But for now, 5mm Zen Magnets remain exiled from the US market—victims of an irrational prohibition championed by unelected regulators who believe adults cannot be trusted with precision tools.

Does that make you sad? Perhaps you should go skiing, or go jump on a trampoline, or go ride a motorcycle to the liquor gun store instead.
